Compass Informatics was commissioned to develop HeritageMaps for the Heritage Council, Ireland.
HeritageMaps.ie is an online resource, free to use, designed to be instinctive and user-friendly, and offers an incredible range of natural, cultural and built heritage data, much of which has never been publicly available before. All of the data has been created for government departments, agencies and local authorities.
Initially conceived as a planning tool for local authorities utilising multi-agency mapping, other uses for the information assembled for Heritagemaps.ie soon became apparent.
HeritageMaps.ie, as a learning and research resource, will develop and grow as the Heritage Council continues to work towards creating nationally-important bespoke datasets that will help promote, preserve and present a varied range of data from Ireland’s heritage-related agencies.
